In the newly independent Kazakhstan, Erkin Tatishev teamed up with close friends to revive an unprofitable mining enterprise in the Zhitikara district of the Kostanay region, on the work of which the life of the single-industry town depended.
After four years of hard work and support from the local community, a team of young entrepreneurs was able to rehabilitate the company in 2002.
Using cutting-edge technology, social investment and efficient business practices, they were able to offset the decline and make the mine profitable again.
It was this first entrepreneurial experience in 2008 that provided the seed capital for the founding of the Kusto Group, which gradually became what it is today - a diversified company in the fields of agriculture, oil and gas, construction, real estate and logistics since 2023.
Today the company operates in nine countries: Singapore, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Israel, Italy, the USA and Canada.
Thanks to our presence in different markets, we have acquired unique experience that we can share with the various divisions of the group.
The company employs more than 8 thousand employees, and its annual turnover is more than 1 billion US dollars.
In 2023, Kusto Group began investing in a new logistics area.
The main goal is to ensure the transportation of goods for Kusto structures.
In the second half of 2023, Kusto Logistics Management invested in the development of long-haul logistics services through its subsidiary Kusto Logistics, which is already successfully developing and owns 190 fitting platforms for container transportation. In the future, it is planned to expand our own rolling stock fleet to increase local and international rail and road transportation, as well as develop industrial logistics services.
In February 2024, Kusto Logistics Management, part of the international holding Kusto Group, acquired a controlling stake in the Kazakh logistics company MKS Logistics. This transaction allows Kusto Group to enter the Kazakhstan logistics services market as a major participant.
MKS Logistics is one of the market leaders and for 18 years has been providing a wide range of outsourcing logistics services for the acceptance, processing, storage and transportation of goods (3PL+ format) for large companies in the markets of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The company operates in 16 warehouse complexes with a total area of more than 200 thousand square meters, located in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Aktobe and Tashkent.
In January 2024, the parties invested in increasing the equity capital of MKS Logistics for business development, including expanding the range of logistics services, local transport, introducing innovative technologies in logistics, modernizing the WMS (Warehouse Management System) IT platform, developing fulfillment services, etc.
As part of the partnership, Kusto Group will bring successful international experience, which will help the company reach a new level of development, ensure financial reliability and stability, which will certainly affect customer confidence.
To develop infrastructure during 2024–2026, it is planned to build our own logistics centers in large cities of Kazakhstan, consisting of container terminals, class A and B warehouses with a total area of more than 100 thousand square meters with temporary storage areas, fulfillment centers with advanced technologies, equipment and systems automation.
All this will make it possible to make available to customers a wide range of logistics services using the best advanced technologies and standards, which will generally increase the level of their quality, range and give impetus to the development of the logistics industry in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
